Rap has been shut out of the major categories at the Grammy’s this year but hip-hop legend Diamond D got a nod for co-producing Natalie Cole’s update of the Aretha Franklin song “Day Dreaming” which is up for Best R&B Female Performance.

On “Best Kept Secret” D ruminated that he might win a Grammy and he did some years later for his production work on the Fugees’ 1996 album The Score. Unfortunately D allegedly got screwed on that same project with Wyclef Jean refusing to clear a sample and D taking the blame.
