looking for some online music talent scouts · by Rafi Kam

I’m going to be starting a unique and I think very valuable service soon on its own website. It will be focused on exposing hand-picked music acts of any genre and helping those artists build up their audience list.

What I’m looking for right now is to create a small network of people who stay up on unsigned/indie musicians who I can count on for good recommendations of stuff to check out. The nature of this service will need a stream of interesting artists and frankly I don’t have the time to filter the entire world down to what’s worthy. I need the participation of an intermediate layer to make quality suggestions for me to peruse.

This is ideal for you if you love music and you already spend time seeking out new, below-the-radar artists. You are probably already sharing / broadcasting your finds on the internet in some way. Let me hear about it. I also need you to be someone who can discern the proverbial wheat from the chaff.

Added plus (but not required) if you tend to build connections with artists because part of what I’ll need to do after finding cool artists is contact them and see if they’re interested in this service.

Probably you see helping artists as its own reward but if you’re someone I can count on for regular quality recommendations then you’d be valuable to me and I’d pay that back in kind. We can discuss how if you’re a good match. I’m open to actual (small) financial compensation or some kind of trade.

Please don’t write if you’re only doing so to suggest an artist or even a few. I’ll solicit those suggestions later on via that new site but for now this is about pathways that can lead to consistent interesting finds.

  9. Perhaps it was R.H.S. but I don’t recall anybody taking “Your site still sucks after all these years” to email first. For what it’s worth I apologize. When you’ve got the kind of money I have on the line in the kind of economy we’re in, it’s not hard to get upset about the position that I’m in. If that doesn’t makes sense follow your own advice and take it to email – I’ll be happy to explain.
