FEMALE EMCEES – VOLUME 2 (Click To Download)
“Tried to mix it up with different styles. A range of topics get discussed so don’t skip over certain tracks, that “bi-sexual” joint produced by 88-Keys is like woah. Got some from the Wu Fam on this. For those who don’t know Deadly Venoms was a group consisting of N-Tyce, J-Boo, Champ MC, Finesse, and Lin Que. They recorded 2 albums, which never got released. The 3rd album, with the omission of some of the original members, did get released. “Venom Everywhere” is on their 2nd album. If anyone got some info on Femme Fatale let me know.”

As a rule, a femcee has really got to come with it in order to make a lasting impression. These comps seem to exemplify the dopeness it takes for a rapper of the vaginal persuasion. I still haven’t figured out which one I’ll add to my hard drive.

great work!
not sure what the terrain is like now but when i was trying to track down a few of the listed tracks on vinyl (“estragen” comes immediately to mind) a few years back, it was not only difficult but the record cost me a pretty penny.

remember that murder inc posse joint with vita? you missed a good one.
and above all- no amil? lol!
but really, good selection. thanks!
— aods Apr 6, 09:57 PM
There’s a lot of dope shit on here that I might never have heard otherwise, and I gotta give specs for that… but I’m surprised you jumped into guest spots so quickly! There’s still some names missing, probably at least enough to fill maybe two more volumes without repeating artists… I mean obviously you can’t expect a project like this to ever be comprehensive, but I hope you haven’t stopped putting these together yet!
Anyway, good looks in general.
— Jesse Dangerously Apr 9, 01:55 PM
My intention wasn’t to make a “definite” compilation of female emcees. For the most part I compiled these myself without the aid of anyone else (like all the compilations I’ve made thus far). Course that may limit my selections a bit due to personal taste, but I think I gathered most of the top-notch female emcees I’ve ever heard of. There’s a fair list of those I did not include, simply because they ultimately lacked the charisma and lyrical wordplay I look for in a dope emcee. I wasn’t about to include them just for the sake of variety.
Jesse, feel free to email me with some suggestions and we could possibly build. aods, you really consider Charlie Baltimore to be the third greatest female emcee? And I’m drawing a blank with your reference to that “white girl from lyricist lounge.” If you don’t remember her name, I guess it was best that she wasn’t included. lol
— L.Marauder Apr 9, 06:25 PM
spelling error: definitive not definite.
peace.
— L.Marauder Apr 9, 06:28 PM
nice. I’ve always wanted to put together a mixtape like this…
— Jesus J. Ruiz Apr 14, 05:54 PM
“aods, you really consider Charlie Baltimore to be the third greatest female emcee?”
lol yes, she’s only topped by amil and northern state. o.O
— aods Apr 15, 01:48 AM
marauder – many thinks for posting this. a lot of under the radar gems mixed in there. one thing – no love for UK besides monie love? baby blue and no lay are a couple of names that come to mind.
and I hate to bother you with it but I the Vol. 4 dl isn’t working.
— padraig Apr 15, 02:45 PM
padraig, the link is just missing the “ht” in the beginning. Vol. 4: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4GHZG01X
I focused on female emcees who are from the US and Canada or garnered some popularity here in the US where I reside. I’ve never heard of those two you named, but I’ll try to look into them…
aods, you got jokes. I’m guessing you caught the first episode of Miss Rap Supreme?
http://www.vh1.com/video/play.jhtml?id=1584588&vid=220988

— ryyan May 2, 01:56 AM
You should do a throwback list volume 6 with some Roxanne Shante,MC Lyte,Queen Latifah,Antoinette,Frick & Frack,Finesse & Synquis,The Real Roxanne,Sweet Tee,Nikki D.,Leshaun…and alot of older chicks who repped on the mic…just a suggestion rather…1
— Boriquacub76 May 2, 07:21 PM
The link to Vol. 4 doesn’t seem to be working any longer and I would really like to download the comp. Like, REALLY. I love this idea. And it’s very thorough. And I want to second the idea put out by post #36 although, perhaps #36 should just throw it together personally.
— Jason Rathbun May 3, 11:22 AM
I think I just might compile a play list of some pioneer/golden era chicks…I even have an idea to do some all female collabos as well as male female collabos list….
— Boriquacub76 May 10, 04:30 PM
I included MC Lyte and Queen Latifah on these, also a collabo including the Flavor Unit MC’s. I realize I could have gone more into the 80’s but wanted these volumes to reflect what I grew up on so they’re more recent and midschool hip-hop. These are not definitive volumes as I already stated. If you want some more oldschool tracks Peanut Butter Wolf recently made a mix called “Ladie’s First.” Should check that out: http://www.undergroundhiphop.com/store/detail.asp?UPC=PBW006CD
Also “Fat Beats & Bra Straps: Hip Hop Classics”: http://www.amazon.ca/Fat-Beats-Bra-Straps-Classics/dp/B0000063DT/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1210653434&sr=1-1
Here’s the link to vol. 4. The “ht” is just missing from the beginning of the link.

Does anyone have the uncensored 12 inch vinyl version of “Thorough Bitches” from Charli Baltimore? the only one I seem to come across is the censored version from the “Cold as Ice” advanced promo copy….
— Boriquacub76 May 15, 04:26 PM
Love this and yes we cannot forget about Guinesses…..
