In an attempt to provide thoroughly vetted content recycle old shit that was never meant for the site, here’s a non-rap mixtape I made for friends last year that’s stayed in constant rotation around these parts. Some classic stuff (Sly Stone, Bowie, Iggy Pop) some already dated stuff (did I really like a Klaxons song? No shit?) and some awesome stuff that really shouldn’t work together but does. I’m a big fan of self-made comps but with tons of DJs handling Hip-Hop I rarely feel the need to make the perfect blend. Rock tapes on the other hand tend to be insufferably unfunky and always have at least a couple of unbearable bands which makes for an open field as far as I’m concerned.
Or maybe I’m just making excuses for my perpetually delayed EPMD comp.
PS: There’s no typo in the mixtape title film-geeks.
PPS: first person to name the rapper in the opening skit gets…nothing. But do it anyways.
