Bloomberg may want to be mayor of New York City until the Bodega snack cakes expire (two-thousand-forever) but he does have his moments.

With its Summer Streets program, the city has been clearing off some of Manhattan’s most congested areas to create a route for pedestrians and cyclists to make their way from the Brooklyn Bridge to 72nd Street during three Saturdays in August.

Derek Sivers, the founder and former head of CD Baby, just tweeted a link to this video he shot earlier today on his ride.

Midtown Manhattan, devoid of the cars and people, presents an eerie and awesome peace.

Bonus video: In 1973 reggae group The Tennors put out “Weather Report”, an adaptation of Simon And Garfunkel’s “The Only Living Boy in New York”.
