Dropping Science With Large Professor!
posted on Apr 01, 2006
Note: This piece was part of an April Fool’s satire.
Large Professor first came out as part of Main Source, whose classic 1990 anthology, Breaking Atoms, included the article “Live at the Particle (Accelerator),” which introduced mesons, muons, and strange force to the world. After the release of “Fakin’ the Cold Fusion,” Large left the group and is now working in his own lab.
- Scientific American
LP: The natural. I read it to keep a wide intellectual focus. There are a lot of ideas that people in physics aren’t even touching.
- Science
LP: I get down with this on the regular, I mean it’s got some real nice articles. This an Scientific American are like the basics of this whole shit. After you really master the ability to understand the basics, then you can move on to whatever more specialized thing you do, but you gotta start out at the same place no matter what.
- The Lancet
LP: That’s some old-school stuff: the scientific study of allopathic medicine. It don’t got no subatomic physics, but I like it. They could get their ideas across with less British spelling, though.
- Omni
LP: I was sad when I heard this was shutting down, man. Personally, that paranormal pseudoscience don’t move me in general, but Omni came through, and I gotta represent for it. It really influenced me as a kid.
- Odyssey
LP: They on some real shit, talking about heavenly bodies and shit. That was my shit right there, growing up. I still go back to that when I want to get inspired, know what I’m saying? That feeling of wonder from the first time I looked through a telescope.

It’s great to see Large Professor on the cutting edge of technology..

The Internet: the integrated system of all systems;information about information. Why are people so negative about the Net when it comes to music. ...Never buy a (physical) album again… its on the Net (plus meta information about the artist, producers and what not)wherever you are and and available anytime. All we need is a good business model in which the artist can still profit from his/her hard work.
Large Pro, drop science on this…

He does look a little like Black Jesus and that goatee is pretty damn manicured, but when you’re Large Professor it’s cool.
