Hey, Steve Martin

You may know the ukulele fronted Hazzards from “Always”, their ode to menstruating in one’s pants, or its video – the best Carrie adaptation this side of “All About the Benjamins”.

Or perhaps you saw them more recently singing “Lets Get Boners” in the Rap Gaydar post on Soulja Boy’s augmented penis.

I saw them live recently and “Hey, Steve Martin” killed – the clear highlight. The Hazzards girls get back in the Delorean and act like teens writing a bunch of notes to their snow-capped crush.

The Hazzards – Hey, Steve Martin

Speaking of teenage love and Steve Martin, check out this YouTube original cover of “Tonight You Belong To Me”, an American standard probably best known to modern audiences by way of Fiona Apple or especially its use in The Jerk (more ukulele!).

The performers are future stars New York rapper Dyme-A-Duzin and London singer Kenzie May. Nice chemistry here, especially for what’s more or less an imaginary transatlantic webcam session.

The Jerk remains one of my favorite comedies of all time. I spied 6th Sense mentioning this scene on twitter just the other day:
