I know this video for “Lightning Bolt” is old in internets time because I was planning to post it on the old site but never did. Still I bet a bunch of you aren’t up on this yet.
Have to admire the fact that he critiqued the gunshot beat that Loud.com supplied him with when he was a finalist in their rap contest and made a dope song out of it.

I peeped this a while back. Homeboy Sandman definitely does his thing!
yeah i gotta see him live sometime. heard him freestyling on the radio months back and it was dope.
i saw him live at the brooklyn hip hop festival. i thought he was pretty good but the crowd wasnt feeling him at all. he started doing some off key singing and people didnt know how to react. he should have done lightning bolt tho. my gf told me how he was at some concert at colby college in maine and there were like 3 ppl there. i felt kinda bad for him but thats how coming up is supposed to be right? i root for him a lot more than these other dbags.
That “Lightening Bolt” song is an atrocity.
This kid has talent, but his execution is a little off, to me.
I like the lazy execution and off-key singing, it reminds me of Biz Markie, similar kind of humor.
I have seen Homeboy Sandman a few times, mostly at small venues. The funny thing is that the first time I saw him, he was on stage with his production group and then the next time I saw him he was with a different group of ‘producers,’ though the songs and beats were the same. Both groups seemed obnoxious and the music was a little sloppy, like this video. I do like the amateur feel though.
Also, I can identify several stolen beats and tracks from the songs he plays. The iStore should shut him down. Maybe they don’t care because Sandman doesn’t sell, so there is no violation?
not for nothin, but homeboy sandman’s lyrics are sick, he may be a little silly but his flow is sick. he’s taking hip hop back from those who took it. someone has to agree with that logic, if he went mainstream it’d be over. to me the boy sand is like a mix between pun, mos def and a bottle of hot sauce, don’t sleep on him listen closer to his lyrics and his message, also take into consideration he used to be a schoolteacher
btw @dave starson, there’s a $10,000 grand prize for anyone who can find an unoriginal lyric in his music, if yo believe he’s plagiarizing, make money off of it
