Tekitha – Ridin’

Tekitha

You probably remember Wu-affiliated sanger Tekitha from her appearances on Wu-Forever’s “Impossible”, “One Step” from the Killah Priest album or the show-stealing “Walkin through the Darkness” off the Ghost Dog soundtrack.

She’s supposed to have a solo album dropping this year including some of her more recent work with producer Armand Van Helden. DIY Hip-Hop veteran Justin Boland just turned me on to one of those tracks, called Ridin’. This is music to vibe out to on those long August drives, but don’t vibe out too much lest you end up going the wrong way on the Taconic.

Tekitha – Ridin

“At the corner make a left turn
Young ones tripping off sherm
Eyes lit by ecstasy
I’m thinking look at all the babies”

If the whole CD is as smooth as this track, I’ll cop it.

Too bad her project wasn’t released around the height of Wu-Tang popularity. Sadly, she claims, she didn’t get for a lot of the work she did back in the day.
